About Divinity Massage

My name is Jade and I am fascinated by the human body, the human mind and the importance of balance in our lives. I believe we all deserve to feel free in our bodies; free of pain, free with movement. I'm also a believer of working with you, working with your body and not against it. We can achieve this by understanding your experience, both through discussion and through assessment; by pushing your body with deep tissue massage techniques whilst being mindful of your limits, or by slowing down and soothing the nervous system with techniques that flow.

I encourage communication and education during our sessions but also understand you may sometimes prefer silent sessions. I also encourage a safe environment for the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities.

I will guide our sessions with professional advice, but we will work together, to bring you back into balance.

FAQS

Why do I need to provide a heath history at my consultation?

Massage therapy is generally beneficial for everyone, there are certain circumstances though that require technique adjustment, require further training to provide massage safely, or are unsafe to massage in the presence of. It's important that we know any accidents, illnesses and special conditions that you have/had and any medications you're on so we can work with you and your body, rather than risk causing any harm.

What should I wear to my session?

It's encouraged that you wear non-restrictive attire to your consultation, as you will be guided through movements to assess joint mobility.
Depending on the area being massaged we may request that you remove items of over-clothing (shirt, pants, socks), although this is always optional if you prefer to leave them on. We use professional draping techniques that ensure you're covered at all times, besides the area being massaged.

Does massage therapy hurt?

There is a common belief that massage should hurt to work - it's becoming understood that pain doesn't always equal gain when it comes to body work. There will be a degree of discomfort with some techniques like trigger point therapy, but your therapist will communicate with you about the 'normal' level of discomfort and ensure to check in during the session that the pressure is suitable for you.

How frequent can I book in?

Depending on your general level of health it's recommended to wait a week between Remedial Massages sessions.
